Integrating User eXperience Principles and Practices into Software Development Organizations: An Empirical Investigation

My thesis focused on improving the state of UX integration in the software industry.
The research was performed in close collaboration with practitioners mainly in Sweden.
I applied a variety of methods including field studies, interviews, observations, and workshops to understand UX integration challenges and success factors from practitioners’ perspective.
In addition to research publications, I developed two methods and two guidelines for identifying improvements and solutions to UX processes in software companies.

Towards Usable openEHR-aware Clinical Decision Support: A User-Centered Design Approach

My thesis focused on applying User-Centered Design (UCD) in open source Medical Informatics.
Applying UCD, I designed an openEHR-aware clinical decision support systems to improve the quality of health care.
I closely collaborated with the department of Odontology in Sahlgrenska University Hospital and the end users (dental hygenists and dentists).
I performed user research (field studies, in-depth user interviews, observations, design preference testing, and usability testing).
I designed low and high fidelity prototypes for the decision support system.
I also developed a middleware (in Java) to help developers generate GUI elements from the openEHR electronic health record XML files.
